CivWiki Monday Newsletter for October 10, 2022
Good morning and happy Monday from New England! This week’s newsletter is brought to you by a collegiate Model United Nations conference which occupied me all weekend, so I’m forced to write this newsletter on Sunday night and essentially make an all-nighter for this long weekend. This will probably be the only time this happens, but if this seems low-effort, I’m all ears.

This week’s featured is a new addition to Provence in Lusitania, the Old Fish Market. Rekt_Tangle’s brand new build features docks for fishing ships and markets for fishmongers to sell their catches. He’s also eagerly awaiting the copper oxidation of the roof as well as future additions to the area. Located just on the hillside below the main city, the fish market hopes to be part of a burgeoning community similar to Italian Cinque Terre villages. Looks great!

The Republic of Lambat’s iteration in CivClassic was a democratic nation located in the shallow +,- quadrant. Lambat was a member of the Augustan Federation and Conference of Eastern States. In the server’s final year, Lambat grew from a small hamlet into a country that consisted of three provinces, one special administrative region (Greater Duskwood), and one chartered city, Lambat City, which was the country’s main hub of activity. distinct characteristic of Lambat are its references to Filipino culture, reflected in the architectural design of Lambat City, which took inspiration from Colonial era Philippines. The country also had American, Western European, and Hispanic influences.
Lambat was a constitutional democracy, with an elected President and Supreme Court. Bills were directly proposed by citizens, regardless of status. Lambat’s politics were gradually divided into two movements, arising from differences in views on its defense policy. Despite this, Lambat was overall a peaceful nation that advocated peaceful diplomacy among nations. It had positive relations with countries such as Capeland and Lusitania. Today, Lambat continues in a new iteration on CivMC.

Current Events
The site of the transfer of power celebration in Cortesia del Mar’s capital, Santiago.
- Cortesia del Mar celebrated its transition of power this past weekend after it passed a 136-page constitution, with nearly 1/3 of the server population joining for the celebration.
- The Great Overland Railway’s plans have reached Lambat Crossposted from the Lambat Post.
- Icarus, Reggio Argeddina, the Hyperborean Confederation, among others have created the NATWO alliance, short for “Neat Alliance That Won’t Obbybomb”, which means they’re totally gonna obbybomb
- Truidencia has put out a 100d + 1 netherite ingot bounty for the pearls of Olivay and AlexanderTheBest for raiding the country.
- In an ironic twist of fate, Impendia had an impending name change and nearly everyone voted for the name of the continent to stay the same. Bureaucracy at its finest.
- Lambat and the new nation of Exilus have agreed to borders between the two countries, the latter taking over the former territory of Judea.
- Mount Augusta is in the process of electing Asa’s seat for judge, who is widely expected be reelected, especially after mayor ComradeNick’s endorsement. He also has promoted his own party, the Grand Old Party.
- Icenia has recently reopened its repaired EXP exchange, with a wide selection of materials and tiers for all options of selection.
- Current Pavian Crown Prince BritishWanderer III has survived his third dice day, a first for the royal line.
- SPQR’s network has expanded to include lines to Cordoba, Bruma, Jorvik, and Moloka, as well as one to Pavia in the future.
- CivReign’s latest teaser shows the use of multiple dimensions on its server, from the underworld to the nether, with the use of machines and portals to travel between each dimension.

- This week on the Lusitania show, we have the Old Fish Market from Provence as well as a view of all the lands of Lusitania
- Not even a build thing but Cortesia looks very good and will probably earn a highlight one day, if it had more accessible pictures
- Finally a brand new build as part of the Order of St. Marcus, the Marcus Grove Manor in Commonwealth
- Uh I need to fill this section out so I took some pictures in Kallos and the newly developing Gmall today, thanks to DockerImage and Tuomasz for not killing me

Metagame Highlights
- Ch1pr’s latest rant-essay-retrospective feels like it casts a negative light on Civ as a whole, however most of the comments under that focus on the positives and tell people to not be as sweaty
- Imagine saying that “there’s a way to play on iOS” and then literally not telling us how
- I actually kind of like these weird posts like “travelling merchant” or “delivery boy” threads, they’re like a good kind of Civ thought experiment.
